In recent years, concepts like the “law of attraction,” “visualization,” and daily repetition of affirmations have shifted from New Age philosophy to the subject of serious scientific research. Often, texts like “Money comes to me easily and in abundance” or “I radiate health and beauty” are perceived as magical thinking. The truth, however, is that pure biology and psychology stand right behind them.
Here is how the practices of managing personal energy affect our reality, justified from a scientific point of view.
Neuroplasticity: The Brain as Plasticine
For a long time, it was believed that the structure of the human brain became fixed after a certain age. Today, neuroscience has proven the phenomenon of neuroplasticity—the brain’s ability to reorganize itself by creating new neural pathways throughout life.
When we repeat certain statements (affirmations), we are literally paving new “highways” in our minds. If for years we have thought “I never have money,” that neural pathway is strong and automatic. When we consciously replace it with a new formulation, we force the brain to physically change. Over time, the new belief becomes an automatic reaction.
Reticular Activating System (RAS): The Filter of Reality
At any given second, our brain is bombarded by millions of units of information from the environment. To keep us from going crazy, a filter called the Reticular Activating System (RAS) operates in the brainstem. It allows into our consciousness only what it considers “important” to us.
How does the RAS know what is important? Through our dominant thoughts and focus.
- If you focus on lack, the RAS will filter reality so that you only notice expensive prices and financial problems.
- When you set your mind daily to a wave of “abundance and opportunities,” you reset the filter. Suddenly, you start seeing business ideas, new contacts, and chances to make money that were previously literally invisible to you.
The Self-Fulfilling Prophecy Theory
In psychology, there is a phenomenon known as the “self-fulfilling prophecy.” The way we feel and the things we believe determine our behavior.
A person who believes they deserve “health, beauty, and success” has higher self-esteem. They walk with an upright posture, speak more confidently, take better care of their body, and take calculated risks. This change in behavior (which spiritual practices call “high vibration” or “personal energy”) triggers a completely different response from those around them. People subconsciously trust confident and positive individuals more, leading to real financial and personal success.
Psychoneuroimmunology: The Mind-Body Connection
The claim that thoughts affect health is no longer a metaphor. The science of psychoneuroimmunology studies how thoughts and emotions directly affect the nervous, endocrine, and immune systems.
Chronic stress and thoughts of scarcity release cortisol and adrenaline, which destroy the body at a cellular level. Conversely, consciously entering a state of gratitude and peace through affirmations activates the parasympathetic nervous system. Inflammatory processes are reduced, cellular regeneration improves, and immunity is boosted. This is how the phrase “health and beauty fill every cell” transforms from text into biological reality.
Affirmations and energy work are not just blind faith that the Universe will bring us everything on a silver platter. They are a tool for mental and strategic focus management. By changing our internal dialogue, we change the filter through which we see the world, the chemical composition of our body, and our ultimate behavior. And when our behavior changes, the world around us has no choice but to change as well.
