Victory for La Albiceleste: They Did It Again!

If you ever doubted that football is a religion, just ask an Argentine today. The semi-final clash between Argentina and England always promises drama, passion, and at least one moment that will be discussed long after. The boys from South America certainly did not disappoint us, and after a heart-stopping 2-1 comeback, they put on the crown once again, sending the “Three Lions” to pack their bags.

The match started exactly as expected with such high stakes – with a tough tactical battle, a lot of nerves, quite a few fouls, and absolutely no desire to take risks. The first half passed under the sign of outsmarting each other and ended at 0-0, without a single shot on target for either goal.

After the break, however, the match shifted into a completely different gear. The cold shower for Argentina came in the 54th minute when Anthony Gordon met Rogers’ cross and coolly opened the scoring for England with the first shot on target in the match.

The “Gauchos”, however, seemed to have drunk two mugs of strong mate in the locker room, and instead of breaking down, they pushed the tempo to the absolute limit. Their pressing became ruthless, and the English defense started to look as if the players were seeing each other for the first time. The real magic happened five minutes before the end – in the 85th minute, Enzo Fernández blew up the stands with a stunning strike from outside the penalty box following an assist by Messi, restoring the tie.

Complete Suffocation

Towards the end of the match and in stoppage time, the picture on the pitch was telling. The Argentines didn’t just dominate; they literally suffocated England with attacks. Wave after wave crashed into the British penalty area. And then, in the 92nd minute, the logical thing happened: Lautaro Martínez rose above everyone and headed in the winning nail for 2-1, turning Messi’s assist into gold.

This time, there was simply no salvation for England. With no chance for a saving 11-meter penalty kick, or a rescuing spot-kick, the English were left with barely two shots on target for the entire match. La Albiceleste are heading to the final against Spain completely deservedly, and in England, it seems they will once again have to postpone singing “It’s coming home”.
